As we’ve been learning about Marketing Strategy during our weekly strategy meetings, the first thing a business owner needs to do (found at the very top of our Marketing Funnel) is attract new people to their products or services.  This can be done in a variety of ways, as we’ve been exploring, like podcasts, blog posts, virtual events, or even starting a YouTube channel.

In our effort to attract a large number of people, the most common form would be advertisements.

But where should those ads be placed?

You can definitely work on pushing your Google ads, but the downside is that people will only find you if they are actively searching for your product or service by name. However, if you used a social platform, like Facebook Ads, you can easily push awareness of your services and create a story that explains the pain people must have and why they need you.

Although they’re not actively searching for you as they browse on Facebook, your ads will pop up in front of them based on identified criteria, audience demographics, or geo-targeting.  This is the first step toward making your business known and getting yourself noticed by a bunch of potential customers.

Simple to set up

Another benefit of using Facebook for your target ads is that it is really easy (and cheap) to set up. Google ad campaigns are very time-consuming and complicated to set up and, on top of that, quite expensive, costing anywhere from $500 to $1,000. Contrasting with creating ads on Facebook, it’s a much simpler process in which you can declare your target audience by income, location, and even by their interests and the things with which they’ve chosen to align themselves.

In this way, you can create your own customer profile and even make up a character that demonstrates the qualities of your ideal buyer.  Every time you work up an ad, keep your buyer persona at the forefront of your mind and you will have effective content that reaches the people with whom you are trying to connect.

Install a pixel

Once you’ve targeted your ideal customer and created Facebook ads, there is a tool you can install called Facebook Pixel which tells you every time someone lands on your website. In this way, you can continue your marketing strategy and begin connecting with them further through your designed lead magnets.

Greater exposure

Ultimately, your goal is to gather a wide range of people looking at your ads and funnel them down to the niche group that would most benefit from your business and connect in a deeper, more meaningful way, and, over time, convert them into an actual buyer.
